Coasters

Around xmas, I had a little accident involving one of my two glass coasters. You guessed it - the coaster is no more. I'd been thinking about making my own, but couldn't seem to find the right pattern. Crazy, right? I've only been knitting for about 30 years, so what do I need a pattern for?

Here is some 8ply handspun alpaca before ...

And after felting (by hand in the kitchen sink - hard work!)
Bit wonky around the edges, but I think they'll do the job.
Oh, and if you think using this alpaca seems like a waste? It's actually really scratchy. You would not want this next to your skin.

  1. How cool is that! yarn makes a great insulator and to be able to use it for coasters is brilliant, especially when it is a lovely hand spun but is too itchy to have on your skin. the coasters look good and you will have people asking about them whenever they come over and use them. Hey they would make neato gifts.
Hand felting in kitchen sink has got to be hard work. I have made use of the washing machine and dryer to do it and can only imagine how hard it must be to do by hand.
